WooCommerce Empty Cart Issue with Stripe Plugin

This is an internal “note to self”, I didn’t get to the bottom of the issue, the solution is a workaround that solved my problem.

Solution

  • Go to WooCommerce –> Settings, select “Products” tab
  • Check the “Redirect to the cart page after successful addition” checkbox

Background

WooCommerce is set up with products synced from both Printful and Printify. Stripe is the payment processor (via Stripe Payments For WooCommerce by Checkout Plugins). So far I have only had products through the POD providers (Printful and Printify), and everything was working as expected.

The issue started when I added my own product that I was planning to fulfill myself.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Add a product to the cart
  2. Go to the cart
  3. The product is not in the cart, “Your cart is currently empty” message is displayed

Observations

  • Deactivating the Stripe plugin fixes the issue – I’m able to see the product in the cart, so it seems that there is a connection to the Stripe plugin.
  • Weird that it works with the POD products but not a regular product created in WooCommerce.
